Pacific Rim: The Dark Zone stars two brothers and their battered jaeger as they cross the 'Australia. In fact, the island was evacuated after a kaiju invasion. From the very brief synopsis released it is therefore possible that the anime series is temporally placed between the first and the second film of the saga.Pacific Rim: The Dark Zone is developed by Polygon Pictures (Knights of Sidonia, Blame!) With Craig Kyle and Greg Johnson (X-Men: Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men) as showrunner and has already been renewed for two seasons although the number of episodes for each season has not been disclosed.
Elie Dekel, vice president of Netflix's Brand Devolpmente and Consumer Products, said that Pacific Rim: The Dark Zone is one of the most ambitious anime ever made by Netflix, has a big budget and marks the important collaboration between the streaming platform and Legendary Pictures for the development of other content in the form of animated series.
It is evident that, after the flop at the box office of the second film, the Pacific Rim franchise is seeking outlets in other forms such as anime, books and comics .

Once upon a time, the Kaiju emerged from the Pacific ring and clashed with the Jaegers, gigantic robots built to counter them. But that's ancient history. Now Australia has been besieged by the Kaiju which have caused the evacuation of an entire continent. Abandoned, teenage brothers Taylor and Hayley set out in a desperate search for their missing parents and learn for themselves to pilot a battered and disused Jaeger who will help them on their mission by offering them a little hope of safety. Pacific Rim: The Dark Zone debuts March 4 only on Netflix.

Pacific Rim - the movie
Pacific Rim was released in 2013, featuring two of the most beloved protagonists of the geek audience : the typical kaiju of the Japanese cinema and huge mecha to fight them, called Jaegers, maneuvered by two or three pilots united by a neural connection. A struggle between titans, to prevent the giant alien monsters surfaced from the Pacific Ocean from destroying the Earth.
