Nintendo: DLC sales boost sales
For a long time, Nintendo had not dealt too intensively with the topic of DLCs, season passes and similar paid additional content. But now the Japanese company seems to have taken a liking to it. This is borne out by the latest statements made by company president Shuntaro Furukawa in a current question-and-answer session. In it he explains, among other things, that some games such as Pokémon Sword & Shield have received a decent tailwind through the sale of DLCs and the Season Pass of add-on content for the expansion pass for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, which was released in the third quarter - and for Fighter Pass Vol. 2 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. (...) customers who bought digital products and have had good experiences with it, tend to continue to make digital purchases. We therefore forecast a further increase in digital sales in the medium and long term. "
Furukawa's statements clearly show that Nintendo appears to be very satisfied with the development of its digital sales. So it wouldn't be surprising if there were more DLCs, season passes and similar additional content for Nintendo games in the future. After all, it is a lucrative market that the Japanese company cannot ignore.
