During a launch event held in streaming, Garmin has just announced the arrival on the market of a new sportwatch dedicated to extreme sports lovers, the Garmin Enduro. Designed for the so-called ultra-runners, it promises incredible all-round resistance, from the construction that follows strict military standards to the incredible battery life. The Garmin Enduro is the first product of the company designed specifically for extreme athletes. The smartwatch is available in two versions with a steel or titanium case with a diameter of 51mm and an elasticized nylon strap that allows a better adherence to the wrist even in the event of extreme stress.
Made according to the MIL-STD standard -810, Garmin Enduro is designed to withstand impacts, thermal shocks and is resistant to diving in water up to 100m depth.
Thought to be as light as possible, the two versions of the sportwatch weigh only 72g, in the model with steel case and 65g, in the variant with titanium bezel and back. The keys have been designed to protrude from the case as little as possible to avoid accidental presses but can also be locked via software if you need to do so.
The Garmin Enduro screen measures 1.4 ″ diagonally to allow maximum readability of race or training data at a glance and is able to absorb sunlight to recharge the battery.
Speaking of battery life, the company promises a continuous use up to 80 hours with GPS and up to a maximum of 200 days in smartwatch mode.
The company has also worked hard on the software side, creating customized profiles dedicated to running activities on rough terrain and demanding ultra running races. The algorithm for calculating VO2 has been optimized specifically for trail running and Garmin Enduro comes with more than 30 different profiles pre-installed for various sports activities. Further profiles and dials can be downloaded from the dedicated store.
Compatible with the InReach Mini two-way satellite communication standard for emergencies, it will ensure extreme athletes are always able to contact emergency help in areas not covered by a telephone signal. Garmin Enduro is compatible with the company's dedicated fitness accessories such as the Garmin HRM Pro band for precise tracking of fitness data.
Garmin Enduro is already available for purchase at a price of 799 euros for the version in steel and 899 euros for the titanium model.
