Cyberpunk 2077 and patch 1.2 delayed: remote work blocked for CD Projekt RED
Cyberpunk 2077 and patch 1.2 delayed
Cyberpunk 2077 has seen its important patch 1.2 postponed and today some other background on the matter emerged from the pages of Bloomberg, where the usually well-informed Jason Schreier reported some internal testimonies that speak of an almost total blocking of remote work due to the famous hacker attack on CD Projekt RED.We reported yesterday that the patch 1.2 of Cyberpunk 2077 has been postponed: originally scheduled for February, the big update did not manage to finish in time, which had already emerged from some previous rumors, thus being moved to the second half of March 2021. Already in the information message, CD Projekt RED had explained that the postponement was imposed by the size of the work carried out on the game and by the hacker attack that recently hit the company's servers, but Schreier explains the extension a little more in detail. of the problem.
According to some internal sources not better identified but who are in contact with the Bloomberg journalist, it seems that most of the developers, who according to the rules on social distancing are working remotely from home or in any case not in the office, have not been able to use their workstations for the past two weeks. This means, in practice, that the jobs have been blocked almost completely for about two weeks, thus damaging the programs included in the update roadmap announced some time ago.
The ransomware-type hacker attack, which also led to the theft of data and source codes of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, placed after the auction on the deep web, has completely undermined the internal network system of CD Projekt RED, just at a time when this is also essential to carry out standard work activities, given the remote use.
Moreover, the hacker attack also for this reason has also become a problem for the various employees and developers, because it has also put the various personal data at risk, forcing a further and immediate blocking of the accounts for verification and security. In the meantime, the system is probably recovering, but it is clear that CD Projekt RED will have to make up for a lot of time lost due to this attack, starting with the need to move patch 1.2 by about a month.
Cyberpunk 2077 continues to encounter obstacles in the path of redemption, also due to other sources
Cyberpunk 2077’s big February patch is delayed following cyberattack
Cyberpunk 2077‘s much-anticipated patch 1.2 is delayed following the recent cyberattack against CD Projekt Red. The studio now aims to release the fix in March.
Earlier this month, CD Projekt Red was the victim of a large-scale cyberattack, which led to hackers stealing the source code for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, among sensitive PR documents. As part of the fallout, the studio now says that the need to update its security has led to another delay for the patch.
“While we dearly wanted to deliver Patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 in the timespan we detailed previously, the recent cyberattack on the studio’s IT infrastructure and extensive scope of the update mean this unfortunately will not happen — we’ll need some additional time,” says CD Projekt Red.

The studio reaffirms that patch 1.2 is more significant than previous updates to the game, bringing overall quality of life updates. Due to the size of the patch, CD Projekt Red has decided to delay it until the “second half of March.”
The news is unfortunate for Cyberpunk 2077 fans who have been waiting for the update for months. The game’s last major patch fixed some of the game’s more immediate bugs and glitches but left fans who wanted more sweeping changes underwhelmed. CD Projekt Red did not mention if the delay will also shift the rest of the game’s 2021 plans, including its next game upgrade. Digital Trends reached out to CD Projekt Red for comment and will update this article when it responds.
Cyberpunk 2077 remains removed from the PlayStation Store and likely won’t return until after the game receives its planned updates.
