An online gondola ride to celebrate Valentine's Day

The Tiqets booking platform offers five free virtual experiences to celebrate love, from the tour on the Grand Canal to the view of New York from the One World Observatory

Gondola ride in Venice (photo: Pexels) dream of a romantic Valentine's day trip, shattered by the pandemic, could be saved (at least in part) by San Internet. Patron of divided lovers and champion of escape in the long, very long months of pandemic. In fact, the free online experiences offered by Tiqets, which helps Cupid despite the virus, are taking care of you on a gondola in Venice or discovering New York.

The Dutch online booking platform offers five virtual tours around the world, obviously overflowing with romance, to which you can connect for free live on Friday 12 February (or see them again when you want on the weekend). Hug yourself on the sofa at home if your loved one is close to cuddling, in video call if you are far away but you want to feel close.

To hold up the flag of love made in Italy it is of course Venice: at 5.15 pm on Friday 12 February it is possible to take part in a gondola tour at sunset along the Grand Canal, led by a gondolier expert in telling the most romantic stories of the Lagoon. All, of course, through your computer or smartphone. To participate in Valentine's Day events, which are all in English, just register here.

If Venice seems too close to you, at 4 pm the program includes a visit to the Palácio Nacional da Pena, a fairytale castle nestled in a luxuriant park in Sintra, Portugal; while at 7pm you can meet penguins (notoriously monogamous animals) at the Aquarium of the Pacific in California. We return to Europe at 8 pm with an online visit to the castle, theater of the love story between the artist Salvador Dalì and his wife Gala in Púbol, Spain; to close the virtual journey to the top of the One World Observatory in New York, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Big Apple while listening to the most famous love stories of the city.
