Pokémon GO celebrates the new year with many events: the January 2021 program
In this first month of 2021, Pokémon GO Trainers will have something to rejoice: to celebrate the arrival of the new year, Niantic has prepared a multitude of events for them! Let's find out together.
To begin with, the New Year's themed event is available at the time of writing, which has new costume Pokémon in store for all of you (like the silly Slowpoke with glasses shaped like a 2020), avatar items and some popular Pokémon wearing party hats. The event started at 10pm yesterday December 31, 2020 and ends at 10pm Monday January 4. Tonight, however, you have an appointment with the extraordinary discovery of January: from 22:00 today 1st January to 22:00 on Monday 1st February you will meet Chansey in the extraordinary discovery.
The protagonist of the first Community Day of Pokémon GO of 2021 will be Machop. The event will take place on January 16th, and will bring with it the new Rematch move for Machamp. During the scheduled hours it will be possible to take advantage of triple Stardust upon capture and Aroma with a duration of 3 hours.
In five-star Raids, however, a Pokémon will appear for the first time. This is the calendar:
Ho-Oh will appear from 22:00 on Friday 1 January 2021 to 10:00 on Tuesday 5 January 2021. If you are lucky, you will encounter its chromatic version; Form of Genesect with Pyromodule will appear in raids from 10 am on Tuesday 5 January 2021 to 10 am on Tuesday 12 January 2021; Heatran will appear in raids from 10:00 on Tuesday 12 January 2021 to 10:00 on Tuesday 19 January 2021. If you're lucky, you'll encounter his chromatic version; Kyogre and Groudon will appear in raids from 10:00 on Tuesday 19 January 2021 to 10:00 on Tuesday 26 January 2021. If you're lucky, you'll encounter their color versions; A surprise Pokémon will appear in raids starting at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Here is what you can expect in the Megaraids (there's a surprise here too!):
MegaCharizard Y, MegaBlastoise and MegaAbomasnow will appear in megaraids. Mega Charizard Y will be even stronger from 10 am on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 to 10 am on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. MegaBlastoise is also the best Pokémon to use in this month's five-star raids, so remember to stockpile mega energy for Blastoise; A certain Mega Evolved Pokémon will appear in Pokémon GO for the first time on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. MegaVenusaur and MegaHoundoom will also appear in raids starting on January 19th. MegaHoundoom will be even stronger from Tuesday, January 26, 2021 to Monday, February 8, 2021. During the month of January, Pokémon Featured Time will take place every Tuesday at 6:00 pm and each hour will feature a different Pokémon and a special bonus. :
Tuesday, January 5, 2021: Featured Pokémon will be Lillipup and you'll earn double the amount of Stardust by catching Pokémon;
Tuesday, January 12, 2021: The featured Pokémon will be Drifloon and you'll earn double the amount of XP by catching Pokémon;
Tuesday, January 19, 2021: the Pokémon in the foreground will be Shroomish and you will earn double the amount of candy by catching Pokémon;
Tuesday, January 26, 2021: Featured Pokémon will be Phanpy and you'll earn double the amount of candy by transferring Pokémon. Tribute events for various regions of the Pokémon world continue in January. Unova, Sinnoh, Hoenn and Johto will be honored over the next few weeks, and Pokémon initially discovered in these regions will appear more often in the wild. The first tribute event of the year will be for Unova, and will take place from 10:00 on Tuesday 5 January to 20:00 on Sunday 10 January 2021. The 17 January will be followed by Sinnoh.
Finally, we report collection challenges are about to arrive, useful not only for those who play Pokémon GO recently, but also for experienced Trainers because they give practical advice on how to catch the Pokémon protagonists of certain events.
