Laurent Rossi is the new CEO of the Alpine brand
Important changes at Renault: Laurent Rossi is the new CEO of the Alpine brand. Contrary to what was expected, it will no longer be Cyril Abiteboul who will take "control" of the historic brand of the French car manufacturer, but the aforementioned former Google executive. The announcement of the new appointment of Laurent Rossi as CEO comes directly from the Renault Group. Therefore, it will be Rossi who will take on all the responsibilities regarding Alpine Cars, as well as take care of the activities inherent to F1 and those of motorsport.
However, it should be stressed that Laurent Rossi has already had to do, in recent years, with the car manufacturer in question. In fact, the manager had joined Renault in 2000, starting to work as an engineer. Later he moved to the USA where he initially collaborated with Boston Consulting and later with Google, dealing with the automotive sector - specifically commercial relationships with important customers - for about 6 years and, from 2018, Rossi returned as Director of Strategy and Business Development of the Renault company.
Your role within the company of the Alpine sports brand will be of fundamental importance and will undoubtedly have all the support of Renault CEO Luca De Meo . So, Laurent Rossi is officially the replacement for Cyril Abiteboul, who is now leaving the French car manufacturer. Obviously, there was no shortage of words of thanks from the former Google executive, who allegedly stated the following:
I would like to thank Renault for trusting me for many years, in particular with the relaunch and rebuilding of the team starting in 2016. I would like to thank Luca De Meo for having involved me in the realization of the Alpine Business Unit and I wish the new structure all good. I would like to thank Cyril for his tireless involvement in taking the Renault F1 team from the penultimate place in 2016 to the podiums of last season. His extraordinary work in F1 since 2007 allows us to look to the future with a strong team and, under the new Alpine F1 brand, we are aiming for more podiums this year.
