Hollow Knight Silksong: what are the future projects of the team?
As we know, Team Cherry is hard at work on Hollow Knight: Silksong, the sequel to the acclaimed action-adventure game from the Australian developer. We still don't know an official release date for the launch of Hollow Knight: Silksong, but we do know that the release is scheduled for this year 2021. Beyond that, many are wondering if there will come a time when the studio's attention. it will move to a new project, even a completely different one. In fact, it's something Team Cherry is already thinking about.
In a recent interview with EDGE magazine, co-directors Ari Gibson and William Pellen gave their statements regarding the team's future plans. When asked if they will take a break after Silksong, Gibson replied, "Well, we have plans to make a game that isn't Hollow Knight." He also adds: “At the moment we only have documents that expand as a new idea comes along. So they are promising in a way, because once the document exists, every month or within a few months, it is slowly being expanded ”.
“Playing a game other than Hollow Knight doesn't mean it's going to be that different: they're just, like, big worlds where we can run, meet characters and embark on adventures. The theme may change slightly as you no longer have a sword or needle available. But beyond that it's pretty much the same experience. Maybe the characters won't have that many horns, ”he concludes ironically. To these statements, Pellen added that the new game will be "something we can explore".
In response to what his colleague said, Gibson says: “We may learn not to make our worlds so big. I wonder what would happen. I think it's probably impossible, but we could try ”. Regardless of what Team Cherry has planned for the future, the studio will almost certainly continue to support Nintendo. Hollow Knight was a big hit on the Nintendo Switch and, at the moment, Nintendo's hybrid console is the only home console that will receive Silksong at launch. Also, PC gamers will be able to live their adventure in the company of Hornet.
