Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One, January 2021: the best games of the month
January 2021 finally marks the arrival on Xbox Series X | S of The Medium, the survival horror by Bloober Team characterized by the unprecedented mechanics of overlapping settings, which will allow us to move from one scenario to another at any time during our explorations .
However, this is also an interesting month for those who still own Xbox One, given the release of titles such as The Yakuza Remastered Collection, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition, Super Meat Boy Forever and above all Hitman 3, the new episode of IO Interactive's stealth action series.
More than ten years after its release on PS3 and Xbox 360, the retro-style scrolling brawler produced by Ubisoft makes its return with Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition. A great opportunity for the still many fans of the comic created by Bryan Lee O'Malley and the funny film based on it, who will be able to try their hand again with the stories of Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers and her menacing ex-boyfriends.
Playable alone or in cooperative mode for up to four participants, the title will see us engaged in increasingly complex fights, with an absolutely non-trivial degree of challenge and a graphic style in pixel art that pays homage to the great classics of the years' 90.
Infallible Agent 47 also makes its debut on nex platforms -gen for Hitman 3, the concluding chapter of the thrilling World of Assassination trilogy, which began in 2016 with the first season and successfully continued in a more traditional, non-episodic format. Within broad and detailed scenarios, will we be able to bring about eliminating our targets?
In addition to an extraordinary visual impact, made possible by the improvements made to the powerful graphics engine of IO Interactive, Hitman 3 also promises greater freedom of action, further multiplying the approaches to each single mission between disguises, interactions and alternate paths to get close to our victim and kill him as quietly as possible.
The Medium is the new, awaited survival horror developed by Bloober Team, the authors of Layers of Fear, which exploits the capabilities of next-gen platforms to introduce a particularly interesting mechanic. The protagonist of the adventure, in fact, moves simultaneously within two worlds, with the possibility of switching from one to the other at any time.
Accompanied by an evocative soundtrack signed by Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka, we will have to take advantage of our character's special abilities to explore scenarios full of pitfalls, solve environmental puzzles, defend ourselves from the attack of the spirits and finally discover the mystery surrounding the Niwa Resort.
The wait has been long, but finally Microsoft users will be able to get their hands on The Yakuza Remastered Collection and resume the long saga starring Kazuma Kiryu exactly where they left off, at the end of Yakuza Kiwami 2. In fact, the package includes the remastered versions of Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4 and Yakuza 5.
As per tradition for the SEGA series, in the three games we will be able to move inside Kamurocho and other characteristic scenarios, control different characters, engage in various collateral activities in complete freedom, fight increasingly stronger opponents and follow the events of a plot narrated in an extraordinary way, with excellent protagonists and many twists!
Super Meat Boy Forever finally marks the return of Team Meat's hardcore action platformer, albeit in this case with a different formula than the one that has won millions over players all over the world. The developers have in fact decided to transform their title into an endless runner, substantially changing the approach to the action without giving up the challenge.
The levels of Super Meat Boy Forever therefore propose frenetic sequences in which you have to jump, hit enemies on the fly, avoid traps and execute all these moves at the right time, with absolute precision, in order to aim for the completion of the stage. A concept that proves effective, but which inevitably loses something compared to the static traps of the origins.
