Who you gonna call? The Ecto-1 is back… and it has grown up!

It was 1984 when it debuted on the big screen, and it should have returned last summer, but alas COVID-19 blocked the release of Ghostbuster: Afterlife in theaters. The mythical Ecto-1, however, is now here, in bricks, on a large scale… and it is (cit.) “Ready to believe in you“! Movie and Ghostbuster fans, here's the LEGO 10274 Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set.

“I found the car. Just fix the suspension ... the clutch ... the electrical system ... the transmission ... and ... the steering box "

" How much? "

" Only $ 4800, remaking the piston rings, the muffler and other nonsense "

It is with this exchange between Ray (Dr. Raymond" Ray "Stantz) and Peter (Dr. Peter Venkman) that the Ecto-1 makes its entrance on the scene.

The set

The LEGO 10274 Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set is inspired by the aged and rusty version (after being hidden for 30 years in a barn) that we will see on big screen in 2021 in Ghostbuster: Afterlife.

Derived from the 1959 Cadillac Superior Miller Meteor ambulance version, this great version of the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 includes a number of tools and features any Ghostbuster needs to track and capture ectoplasmic enemies! The new LEGO 10274 Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set is the most detailed brick reproduction ever produced and is the latest in a collection of film and franchise-based sets, intended for adult enthusiasts and collectors who like to build to relax or indulge their own passion for cinema.

Two new elements have also been specially produced for this new set: a new curved windscreen and a new steering wheel.

Once the 2,352 pieces of which it is composed have been assembled, the set will measure 22.5 cm high, 47 cm long and 16.5 cm wide and will be available on the LEGO Shop @ Home and in LEGO (Certified) Store starting November 15th at a price of 199.99 euros.

The functions

The LEGO 10274 Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set includes functions such as

a roof-mounted rotating ghost hunter activated by the motion of the wheels steering wheel a series of other devices for detecting events and paranormal phenomena on the roof rack body panels printed with the iconic company logo of the special and specific adhesive Ghostbusters reproducing rust stains, to be used to "age" the ecto-trap model in the remote-controlled rover version that can be released via a mobile and opening ramp placed in correspondence with the rear seat compartment that can exit from the cockpit and can act as a shooting station for one of the Ghostbusters, who will be able to fire with the proton beam while the Ecto-1 will be in pursuit of the "target" (as seen in a scene from the trailer)

Talking about the design of the LEGO 10274 Ghostbusters set Ecto-1, LEGO designer Michael Psiaki said:

“I love creating LEGO vehicles and having previously designed the LEGO James Bond Aston Martin DB5 I loved the challenge of working on ECTO-1. This is the largest and most detailed version of this car we've ever created, it's full of authentic features and easter eggs, which I can't wait to be discovered by enthusiasts as they build this model ”

LEGO Ghostbuster # 75827 Ghostbusters Fire Station

What better “home” for the Ecto-1 in the above set than the famous Fire Station which serves as the home for the four Ghostbusters? Two years later (in 2016) it was the turn of the LEGO Ghostbuster set # 75827 Ghostbusters Fire Brigade, official set (no longer CuuSoo / Ideas) which in addition to the minifigures of the four Ghostbusters, also includes those of Dana Barrett, Janine Melnitz, Louis Tully, Slimer, of two ghosts and a pair of ectoplasms.
