Apple Watch, Spotify no longer needs a connected iPhone

The feature was first spotted as early as September, when Spotify began testing. However, more and more Apple Watch LTE users are now reporting that they can listen to music directly from the Apple smart watch without the need for an iPhone connected.

A news that certainly seems happy the many users who own one of the Latest generation Apple Watch with data connectivity. Using the Spotify application on Apple Watch Cellular it is finally possible to listen to your favorite music both using the integrated speaker and the bluetooth headphones connected to the wearable.

At the moment it seems that the function is not yet active for everyone but it is rapidly spreading. If you are used to going to the gym or going for a run outdoors, leaving your beloved iPhone safe in your home, relying on a smartwatch with data connectivity and able to receive messages and calls independently, this is definitely a feature you will appreciate.

It is not yet possible to perform manual searches from the app but it is possible to ask the voice assistant of Apple Siri to play the desired tracks. It is also possible to play recent songs, albums and playlists that are shown on the watch.

A similar function was already available through the service of the Cupertino company called Apple Music, however it is interesting to find out how now more and more users can rely entirely on their smartwatch even if they use third-party music services such as Spotify .

It would be interesting to find out if Spotify is also working on the implementation of the convenient feature for WearOS and Tizen smartwatches equipped with eSIM or SIM and able to connect to telephone networks independently. We just have to wait and see how things will evolve in the near future.
