TCL and its plans for Europe: tablets and smartwatches are also on the way
TCL wants to conquer Europe. A new Chinese giant is looking at the Old Continent with interest to expand its borders. For about a year, the Asian manufacturer has begun to market smartphones under its own brand with the aim of creating its own identity and carving out a position also in the European mobile sector, but not only. In fact, we are talking about a company that has been in the television market for years. It is with these devices that the brand has taken its first steps in Europe.
Now, however, it wants to expand its ecosystem and - in the coming months - the catalog will also include tablets and smartwatches, as Flavio told us Ferraro, Country Manager and Alberto Manni, Senior Sales Manager Distribution of TCL Mobile Italia.
TCL 10 Plus Despite the particular period we are experiencing which has forced many companies to revise their plans, TCL has marketed in the last twelve 6 months of smartphones that occupy practically all price ranges, with the exception of the premium one. Without forgetting the Alcatel-branded devices (smartphones and mobile phones) that enter the segment below 130 euros, left increasingly uncovered by the big names in the sector.
5G represents an important step in the development strategy of the brand. TCL 10 5G was - together with Mi 10 Lite - the cheapest 5G smartphone on the market, reaching 399.99 euros exclusively with TIM and Vodafone. This is one of the sales channels chosen by the Chinese company which intends to pursue its collaboration with telephone operators. To this we also add the presence in physical stores of consumer electronics chains that could give a greater boost to the visibility of the brand.
TCL wants to create a real ecosystem that focuses on TV and smartphones, both based on Google's Android platform with which it can boast a close collaboration. This explains the arrival in the coming months of the successors of the smartphones currently on the market, of soundbars, routers, headsets, tablets and smartwatches.
If today the gap as regards smartphones goes from 199 euros for TCL 10 SE up to 499 euros for TCL 10 Pro, in the coming months it could widen further going from about 150 euros up to the 500-600 euros range . We do not know at the moment what devices will arrive.
In the first quarter of 2021, however, the 10.36-inch TABMAX tablet with 8000 mAh battery and TCL Stylus stylus support will be marketed. It comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of expandable internal memory in 4G LTE version and Wi-Fi only at 299 euros and 249 euros respectively. Finally, TCL MOVETIME Family Watch MT43AX is a smartwatch for “senior” users equipped with 4G connectivity with Nano SIM, for calls and voice or text messages. In addition to the classic functions typical of smart watches, it is able to detect any falls and alert emergency contacts. It integrates a 1.41-inch AMOLED display. The selling price will be 229 euros.
In short, TCL is ready to conquer the Old Continent in small steps. Who knows how the market will respond to the newcomer.
