PS5: Only 664GB of usable space on the SSD
With the distribution of the first PS5 units in print and youtuber, the space actually available on the SSD of Sony's new generation console has finally emerged. As shown in the screenshot at the bottom of the news, to install the games you will only have 664GB or, better, GiB (Gibibyte, not really a synonym for Gigabyte, but it is much less used). So the operating system will take up 104 GiB well (consider that the SSD actually has 768 GiB of space).

For those wondering, the calculation of the actual space available on Xbox Series X has also been done in Gib. In the table below you will find all the details of the case.

Xbox Series X 1 TB = 930 GiB (definitive free space is 802, this means the operating system occupies 128) PS5 825 GB = 768 GiB (definitive free space is 664, which means that the operating system takes care of 104)

What can I say? 664 GB is not a lot, especially considering how much they occupy the installations of games that are usually kept in the system for months, if not for years, like Call of Duty: Warzone. We hope that the official expansion SSDs do not cost a fortune, or at least that it is possible to use the mechanical hard drives to set aside the data of unused games, otherwise many risk running out of free space already in the first months of the console's life.
