New Audi Q5: the range expands, more efficiency and determination
The Automobile House of the Four Rings is expanding the Q range by launching a new, much more efficient Audi Q5. In fact, the new gem of the German brand offers the 163 HP 2.0 TDI and 265 HP 2.0 TFSI. This is therefore an exhilarating novelty for Audi since, until now, customers could only opt for one solution, namely the one in the 204 HP 40 TDI S tronic variant. Finally, today, the brand increases the offer of the Q range, a model which is the best-selling model in the world. The engines of the new range have an S tronic transmission, in doing so all the limits set by the recent Euro 6 d-ISC-FCM anti-pollution legislation are respected and, moreover, there is no lack of 12 volt mild hybrid technology.
The new gem of the German car manufacturer presents the third generation of the modular MIB3 infotainment platform. This platform is characterized by extraordinary computing power and is equipped with a very large MMI touch display and Car-to-X connectivity. The aggressive design - which further underlines the character of the new Audi Q5 - and the light signature are other features of the car that debuts with the 35 TDI S tronic 163 MHEV 12V and 45 TFSI S tronic 265 hp MHEV 12V engines. The entry level of the range, namely the diesel variant, combines efficiency and performance. These features are highlighted by a 2-liter four-cylinder engine with a double balance shaft. To complete the system, there are new cooling circuits.
The base system is also completely innovative, made of aluminum as well as the common rail injection system which is capable of reaching a maximum pressure of 2,200 bar. Instead the pistons are made of forged steel. The 163 horsepower of maximum power allow the new Audi Q5 35 TDI to reach a top speed of 213 km / h going from 0 to 100 km / h in 9 seconds. Thanks to mild-hybrid technology, emissions are equal to 146 - 162 grams per kilometer of CO2.
The Audi Q5 45 TFSI, on the other hand, has a power of 265 hp and sprints from 0 to 100 km / h in just 6.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 240 km / h, compared to declared fuel consumption, in the WLTP cycle of 8.4 - 9.2 liters per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 190 - 209 grams per kilometer. Seven-speed S tronic automatic transmission with quattro all-wheel drive are other features of the new Audi. Together with the basic, Business, Business Advanced, S Line and S Line plus trim levels, Audi exclusive equipment is also added. The latter allows you to customize your car with 50 different body colors, in addition to the upholstery and interior finishes.
In addition, the Audi exclusive edition Cognac package has been added, thanks to which the Nappa leather interior can also be alternated between black and cognac. Therefore, these are nothing short of refined equipment that, together with the MMI system with 10.1-inch high-resolution TFT display, make the new Audi fascinating. Obviously, the Amazon Alexa voice assistant is also present in the cloud of the MMI control system. As for the price, the Q5 35 TDI S Tronic 163 CV has a cost of 50,800 euros, while the 45 TFSI quattro S tronic 265 horses can be purchased for 59,000 euros.
