Grant Morrison further and further away from DC

Grant Morrison further and further away from DC
Interviewed by TechRadar, the volcanic and brilliant Scottish author Grant Morrison, currently tied with an exclusive contract to DC and working on The Green Lantern, confirmed that he has shelved plans for a graphic novel sequel to his seminal 1989 work Arkham Asylum.

Morrison explained that he had written a draft of about 26 pages that he had picked up after completing the short story that will appear in the celebratory Detective Comics # 1027, coming out shortly in the United States. Unfortunately, however, the increasingly pressing commitments linked to the world of television have forced him to close it for the moment in the drawer; Morrison described the draft as extremely different from the atmosphere of Arkham Asylum and instead very close to some things of Philip K. Dick.

Grant Morrison recently wrote the Brave New World TV series for Peacock / Sky One and is working on the multimedia project, which also includes a graphic novel, Proctor Valley Road for NBCUniversal.

Grant Morrison and the sequel to Arkham Asylum

The mysterious sequel to Arkham Asylum was announced in San Diego Comic-con of 2017 and would have seen Grant Morrison team up with designer Chris Burnham (Batman, Inc.) to once again tell a future in which Damien Wayne had become Batman as happened, during his run on the character, in Batman # 666.

Grant Morrison and the divorce from DC?

This news almost comes to corroborate some rumors that would see DC in full renewal of its author park. Specifically, there is talk of a thorough review of all the contracts with which the publishing house was tied exclusively to an author. In this sense, the names about to take this important status, especially at an economic level, are Grant Morrison who, once the work on The Green Lantern is completed, would be vacated; Tom King who would not have been assigned other projects besides the Strange Adventures and Rorschach miniseries; Dan Abnett, Scott Snyder and Geoff Johns.
