FIFA 21 on PS5 and Series X: release date revealed, we will have to wait

EA has announced through its Twitter profile, as you can see just below, that the release date of the next-gen versions of FIFA 21, precisely PS5 and Xbox Series X, is December 4, 2020. This means that when the Microsoft and Sony Interactive Entertainment gaming machines will be released in Italy, there will be no way to play the "upgrade" version of FIFA 21.

We remind you that those who own FIFA 21, in PS4 and Xbox One, will be able to upgrade for free to the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions, both in physical and digital versions. This possibility will be available, however, only from the aforementioned release date and until the release of FIFA 22. Obviously, in the meantime, you can still play EA's football simulator on the new consoles, but only in a backward compatible version, that is, with the same quality and the same features of the old-gen versions.

By upgrading from PS4 to PS5 and from Xbox One to Xbox Series X, FIFA 21 will retain all of the progress of Ultimate Team and Volta. Unfortunately, it appears that the progress of all other modes (Online Season, Co-Op Season, Career Mode and Pro Club) will not carry over.

Now we finally know the release date of FIFA 21 on PS5 and Xbox Series X, but one big detail is still missing: what are the technical improvements of the game on next-gen? Currently it has not been indicated: we will be able to find out more in the next few weeks. As for the contents, however, there will be no differences: the next-gen does not include modes, gameplay features or exclusive licenses.

We remind you that EA's soccer game is already available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Furthermore, the Legacy edition has been published on the Nintendo Switch, which very simply updates the squads without making any changes to the video game compared to previous years.
