Windows 10: Lenovo ThinkPad BSoDs confirmed
Updates for Windows 10 released in the past couple of months cause a number of issues that particularly affect Lenovo ThinkPad computers. We have written about it on these pages several times and we return to do so today as Microsoft has confirmed the existence of bugs. In an official note he refers to the update KB4568831 at the end of July and the following ones, including the recent Patch Tuesday in September, which brought the platform to build 19041.423.

Windows 10 and Blue Screen of Death on Lenovo ThinkPad

The hitch is to be found in an incompatibility with the Chinese manufacturer's Vantage software which for some causes a Blue Screen of Death when starting or running Windows 10. Other feedback collected refers to the inability to use Hello for biometric authentication and anomalies in device management. The 2019 and 2020 models of the ThinkPad range are interested.

The Redmond group proposes a workaround to be used to temporarily resolve the situation pending a bugfix. You need to change the UEFI settings: go to the “Security” section then to “Virtualization” and disable “Enhanced Windows Biometric Security”. If this is not possible, the only alternative is the one that passes from the uninstallation of the updates for the operating system released in the last two months and from the pause of the automatic updates until further notice.
