Twitter now explains why a topic is trending

It is perhaps inspired by this figure, known as Captain, that Twitter has decided to further contextualize what happens on the platform.

With this new update, some trends will be accompanied by a tweet that helps to better understand their meaning. Using the combined work of algorithms and a dedicated team, the social network will determine whether a tweet is able to represent the trend in question or not. After evaluating their popularity, Twitter will be able to show the selected post as an explanation.
