Smartphone with camera under the screen? The idea teases Realme
In the last year there has been a lot of talk about the new technology that sees the front camera hiding under the smartphone screen. While it seemed like a distant solution, ZTE surprised everyone a few weeks ago by announcing Axon 20 5G, the first smartphone with an under-display camera to reach the market. The idea also seems to tease Realme, the Chinese brand that is also advancing in Europe.

The Vice President of the company, Xu Qi Chase, has published on the Chinese social network Weibo the image of a smartphone on which it is not no front camera visible. There are no notches nor do there appear to be holes. To support the hypothesis that it may have been implemented under the screen we think the comment of Chase specifying that the device is not equipped with a camera with a retractable mechanism, in the Realme X style.

Unfortunately, they have not been provide more information except that the research and development center is working on this device. Chase never explicitly mentions the camera under the display, but there is little doubt that the reference is precisely to this new technology. There are still many doubts about this solution and they concern - as we know - the quality of the shots and the visibility on the screen of the area in which the sensor has been positioned.

The feeling is that in any case it is a solution still unripe that needs refinements, like all new technologies on the other hand. In the meantime, the various manufacturers - such as Xiaomi and OPPO - have already got to work anyway. Lei Jun's company could announce it in the course of 2021. Who knows Realme won't arrive first. We'll see!

The satisfying Realme 6 with 90 Hz display can be purchased for less than 200 euros on Amazon, at this link.
