Russia bans the Binance exchange

Russia bans the Binance exchange
From Moscow, the Roskomnadzor authority has included Binance in the list of sites that "disseminate prohibited information", making it inaccessible except by resorting to special precautions. For those who are not aware of it, it is the most important cryptocurrency exchange in the world, a platform on which all the main virtual currencies transit every day.

Binance ends up on the Moscow blacklist

Stando according to what emerged, the decision would have been taken in recent months, more precisely on 2 June 2020, following the disclosure of data regarding some transactions carried out in Bitcoin. Despite subscribing to the blacklist, users in the country are still able to access the portal by relying on a VPN. We report below in translated form the brief release on the matter distributed by Binance which stresses that it did not receive any notice on the measure before September 24th.

Before it happened, we did not receive any notification of any complaint from the forces of the order, government departments or judges. We have now engaged our legal advisors to determine what to do and ensure all our Russian users that there are no disruptions to services and that their funds are safe.

Staying on topic, last month Roskomnadzor had also blocked BestChange.ru, a local site that acted as an aggregator for crypto news from around 400 international sources.

Binance has recently joined the Blockchain for Europe association. At the beginning of May, it was the subject of a theft for an equivalent value of 40 million dollars.
