PS5: A patent suggests compatibility with PSP and PS Vita
A new patent from Sony, registered on February 6, 2020 and published on August 20, talks about the compatibility of PS5 with PSP and PS Vita, the two portable consoles of the Japanese multinational, both out of the market.
An image included in the patent shows accessories and peripherals with which PS5 will be compatible. These include PS VR, PlayStation Camera, PlayStation Move, DualShock 4, mouse and keyboard, remote control, bluetooth headphones and PSP. PS Vita is instead mentioned in the text of the patent. Difficult to say what can be used to connect PSP or PS Vita to PS5. Probably you will be able to play in Remote Play as it already happens with PS4. Of course, the support for hardware that can now only be found on the second-hand market is still strange.
One of the most accredited hypotheses is that, being PS5 backwards compatible with PS4, Remote Play is automatically so too (so that there is no big job specific to the function behind it). Of course, to really know something about this point you have to wait for Sony to give official explanations, perhaps in the next State of Play where it will (hopefully) announce the price and availability date of the next-gen console.
