PS5, like Xbox Series X, will not have optical audio output
PS5 will not have optical audio output, like Xbox Series X. The lack of this feature had already emerged for Microsoft's console, but has now also been confirmed for Sony's next-gen hardware, despite the current generation consoles having it.
This was unveiled by Astro, a brand that deals with headphones, earphones and other audio-related peripherals. The manufacturer explained that for its peripherals dedicated to PS5 it will offer an HDMI / optical adapter that will allow the passage of the video signal together with the audio signal without loss of quality and without delays. The adapter will support HDMI 2.1 and HDCP standards.
It is not surprising that neither Sony nor Microsoft have officially communicated this lack. After all, there is already a way around, so why bother?
For the rest we remind you that PS5 and Xbox Series X are expected by the end of 2020. PS5 may be out slightly later in Europe than in the US and Canada, but again within the current year.
