PowerToys to control the PC webcam

The new experimental version 0.22.0 of PowerToys brings with it a very useful feature in this period of smart working: the one to control the webcam, blocking the microphone or video capture regardless of the model. It can be downloaded from GitHub (link at the bottom of the article) and requires Windows 10 version 1903 or later.

To use it you need to set the own webcam as "PowerToys camera", as shown in the screenshot below.



In this way you have the possibility to intervene on various configuration parameters, establishing keyboard shortcuts if desired to enable or disable the microphone, video signal or both at the same time. The default ones are Win + Shift + A, Win + Shift + O and Win + N respectively. Another option is the one that allows you to display a customized image overlay.



The novelty was achieved thanks to the work of the team engaged on PowerToys with a commitment that has started early summer.
