One Piece, the 1000 chapter of the manga will be published before the end of 2020?
The situation of the One Piece manga, in recent months, is very delicate: the narrative arc of Wano is facing the final battle with the enemies of the moment (we do not add more to avoid spoilers), and the fans of the work are wondering if the chapter 1000 (the fateful chapter 1000) will really be published before the end of 2020.
The manga that managed to get to chapter 1000 can be counted on the fingertips, and One Piece is one of these. Some considerations are therefore necessary (also reported by the comicbook.com editorial staff) to try to understand if the work will really be able to respect the schedule. Meanwhile, we must note how the most recent chapter of the manga published is 988; the new chapter, 989, will arrive tomorrow Sunday 27 September 2020. You can read it for free on Manga Plus, along with the two most recent issues.
This means that at that point there will still be 11 chapters missing before reaching the number 1000: there aren't many, but the publication frequency is weekly, and eleven chapters need two months and three weeks to see the light. The hope of the fans is that we will be able to reach number 1000 by Christmas 2020, but someone has already resigned themselves to welcoming the very important number as the first of the new year, in January 2021. There would be plenty of time to recover Wano's entire story arc, in fact.
Much will depend not only on Japanese holidays, which could lead to the interruption of Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine, but also from the frequent breaks of the mangaka Eiichiro Oda. Often the latter skips a weekly publication to look after his health, and certainly no one can blame him. Lastly, the global health emergency must also be taken into account, which had already led to significant delays in the editorial staff in the spring and summer months.
In short, it is still early to provide an answer. The 1000 chapter of the One Piece manga, however, could arrive by 2020, even if for the broken headset.
