Legends of Runeterra Masters Europe presented!
Riot Games has just announced the first major official tournament of the Targon expansion, the Legends of Runeterra Masters Europe - Chronicle of Targon!
Let's find out!
Winning in LoR is always great, either when you beat a control deck with an aggressive deployment, or when you steal cards from your opponent to use them against them, or even when you draw a victory from the stars with Invoke. Now, imagine the feeling of defeating the continent's best players, representing your country, in a match broadcast live around the world.
Celebrating the next two expansions of The Call of the mountains, we organized our first European tournament, which will bring out the strongest nation in the game. We will select 16 countries from the region, and then pit the best players against each other.
You read that right: players. LoR is a solo adventure, but the hopes of the individual nations will rest on the shoulders of multiple contenders. Very few have managed to reach the summit of Mount Targon, and even fewer have made it alone.
The LoR Masters Europe will unite the three highest ranked players from each country, creating a super team that will have to give their all to make its nation prevail over the other Europeans.
And if competing for national pride isn't enough, there will also be prizes which we'll talk about soon.
Before the tournament starts, the ranking will be crucial for decide which players and which countries will participate in the LoR Masters. We will keep an eye on the game rankings and players will have until 12 October to climb as high as they can, to increase their (and their country's) chances of competing. The top 16 players from different countries will lead their nation to the group stage.
Then the LoR Masters Europe will begin, with rounds lasting from November 7th to November 22nd. The top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the quarter-finals on 28 November. On November 29, the strongest country in Europe will emerge, with the semifinals and the final.
and you want to represent your nation at all costs but you are not yet a Master, do not worry. You have until October 12 to climb, and you can potentially participate anyway.
In the spirit of competition, we want to see the best players, so each team will have at least two Master players, but the third seed doesn't have to come from the top division. If you compete in Diamond, you still have a chance to join your national team. All you need to do is be the third best player in your country.
In the groups, the 16 teams will be randomly divided into four groups, with which they will compete in three devastating weeks. After each team has faced the other teams in their group twice, the best two teams in each group will move on to the final weekend, which will start with the quarterfinals.
No team can rely on to one individual. If players want their country to shine more than Taric's gems, all three will have to adapt and give their best in the most important moments.
Each week, teams will come together to create nine decks they'll use to compete, of which only the champions will be revealed. The groups will be played to the best of five and, before each series, the teams will be able to ban three champions of the opponents.
Each player will have to assume his responsibilities, because every match will be played in 3 against 3, with each grappling with its seed equivalent. After winning a match, the team cannot use the same deck for the rest of the series, while the losing team can keep the deck or try another one.
