Fortnite vs Apple: Epic Games makes its move and demands that the court take action
As you surely know, recently the gaming world has been shaken by an unexpected succession of events that have led the well-known Fortnite to disappear entirely from Apple mobile devices and from the Play Store of Android devices. Here we will avoid repeating from the beginning all the reasons behind the gesture and the implications of the same, limiting ourselves to reminding you that the diatribe had started when Epic Games added in its flagship title an internal store through which it would have been possible to circumvent 30% of commissions requested by both Apple and Google for each purchase made.
Following the subpoena brought by Epic Games, the two American giants "attacked" responded in their own way. Google has had a more disinterested attitude, going so far as to present a storage instance, specifying that the Play Store is not the only purchasing system within Android devices and, consequently, Epic will not suffer heavy losses with the Fortnite exit from the same. On the contrary, Apple has seen itself far more fierce and threatening, and after some initial actions - some of which even denied it by the court itself -, now Epic has made its move, especially through a request for measures by the court. . More specifically, the company stated:
Today we asked the Court to stop Apple's retaliation against Epic for daring to challenge its unlawful restrictions while our antitrust case proceeds. This is a necessary step to free consumers and developers from Apple's costly, anti-competitive control. https://t.co/r2XxhitjMp
