Fortnite vs Apple: ban of at least one year on iOS devices for the Epic Games title
We have already talked to you several times about the delicate situation in which Epic Games and Apple have recently found themselves, two giants in comparison - while the third, that is Google, has preferred to avoid the issue - which do not seem to want to give up ground. Yet, the backlash suffered was rather violent on both sides, with Epic Games in particular which, however, finding itself with its Fortnite excluded from the iOS ecosystem, evidently suffered the most violent economic damage, to the point of having requested the court that the game will be re-inserted on Apple mobile devices, at least until the first hearing is reached.
Apparently, however, Apple does not seem to have the slightest intention of giving ground to Epic Games, to the point such as to have announced that the Fortnite ban on iOS will remain in effect for at least a year. The decision was allegedly made following a refusal of several Apple delegates to hypothesize a readmission of Epic Games to the developer program for iOS, with the group finally agreeing to impose a ban of at least one year. Also according to what has been revealed by Apple, there is not even the remote possibility that Fortnite can return to the App Store before the ban in question "expires".
What emerges is a sudden change of plans by from Apple. At first, in fact, the company said it was willing to immediately re-enter Fortnite in its store - obviously always provided that Epic Games accepted the required 30% taxation - but evidently recent developments have changed the cards on the table and have finally led to much more violent moves, which could have serious repercussions to the detriment of Epic in the long run, as recently revealed by the heavy drop in players that hit production.
