E-commerce purchases: record growth in Italy
The last difficult period has changed not only the working methods with a strong adoption of smart working, but also the habits related to shopping: this is certified by the research conducted by Sendcloud in partnership with Nielsen which places particular emphasis on growth of the turnover related to e-commerce in Italy.
More in detail, Italians perform them with an average monthly frequency of 1.9 times including 5.4 products in each order, figures in line with the European average. The latter figure, however, grew by more than half (+2.9 products per order) compared to the previous survey carried out before the health crisis occurred. In the rest of the old continent there was an average increase of +2.7. One figure testifies to the boom in the sector with all that this entails in perspective.
As for the delivery times, we expect to receive the products at home in 3.3 days, considering excessive a expectation of 4.5 days (respectively 3.1 and 4.4 the European averages). During the crisis, the threshold rose to nearly a week, more precisely 6.3 days. In any case, the delays recorded in Italy were lower when compared with the continental ones: 1.8 days against 2.1 days, despite the restrictive measures and blocks to activities imposed starting from spring.
