Deadpool: everything you don't know about the Chatty Mercenary

Deadpool: everything you don't know about the Chatty Mercenary
Irreverent, foul-mouthed, exaggerated, violent and totally insane. And these are just some of its strengths, given that we are talking about Deadpool, the Marvel anti-hero who appeared for the first time in the early 90s and has become one of the favorite characters of comics fans. From a simple appearance in X-Forc's New Mutants on the shoulder stories to the conquest of its own series, Deadpool has a long publishing career behind him, in which he has experienced adventures that have shown all his hilarious madness and his uniqueness . In these stories, however, the peculiarity that only a few Marvel-fans know about are hidden.

From the legend about his name to his nature, there are many curiosities related to the Mercenary Chiacchierone, and after talking about the origins of Deadpool, now it's time to reveal some little goodies about the good Wade Wilson.

The origin of his humor is Spider-Man's fault

The first feature that comes to mind of Deadpool is his irrepressible irony, which often makes his adventures paradoxical. This typical trait stems from the belief of Rob Liefeld, one of its creators, that in the early 1990s the House of Ideas had lost its most comical character: Spider-Man.

As Liefeld himself explained:

“The Spider-Man of the 90s was a married, depressed dude. The one I grew up with made fun of you or hit you in the face by making jokes, and that's what I wanted to accomplish with Deadpool "

Indeed, in the 90s Parker's life was anything but easy , between alien symbionts, marital crises and tragic and unforgettable stories such as Kraven's Last Hunt. Liefeld’s passion for the fun mute Climbing of previous decades was therefore the spark for Wade Wilson’s often irreverent irony, to the point that when he presented the character concept in Marvel, Liefeld did not mince words.

"It's Spider-Man, only he uses guns and swords. The idea is that he is an idiot "

Quiet Rob, mission accomplished!

He is the first Marvel character to have a real talking head

When you are called the Mercenary Chatty, you have to deserve the nickname and Wade is certainly not afraid of being left speechless! If in the comics his rants have often been able to drive enemies crazy, who knows what he could do if it were real! A question that has been answered in Deadpool's Interactive Head, the first product of its kind, which thanks to Hasbro can fill our homes with the typical Deadpool phrases, allowing us to experience a bit of the character's madness in reality. You can purchase it at this link, as long as you don't care about your sanity.

Deadpool is not a mutant

It appears for the first time in an issue of The New Mutants. Militates an X-Team, X-Force, and often crosses the path of the X-Men. He has powers that we have often seen possessed by mutants. So is Deadpool mutant? Surprisingly, no! Wade's regenerating power, in fact, is the result of the experiments of the K Department, a deviated branch of the Weapon X program. That's right, the same secret project that transformed Wolverine into the perfect weapon, as told in Arma X.

Wade agreed to undergo the K Department experiments as they were the only chance he had left to recover from incurable cancer. And how to best cure him, if not to instill in his organism the mutant Wolverine gene responsible for the incredible regeneration of the Canadian claw?

Despite this particular origin of his regenerating factor, Wade continues to define himself as a mutant, too if on more than one occasion the X-Men have pointed out that, for all intents and purposes, he is not really a Homo Superior. The mutants are in fact only those who have obtained their powers naturally, coming into the world with the X gene in their DNA.

Deadpool is therefore not a real mutant

Deadpool is immune to telepathy

Wade's body, as a result of the K Department experts, has been so mistreated that his regenerating factor is constantly busy healing him. An effort that is also extended to her psyche, which has evidently been deeply marked by this traumatic experience.

Reason why, the mind of the Chatty Mercenary is subject to a perpetual healing process, which makes it hyperactive and , as we all know, unstable. Thanks to this peculiarity, Deadpool has such a fragmented and dynamic psyche that his mind is immune to telepathy.

Deadpool has its own merchandise ... in the comics!

Marvel has shown that it can exploit with particular attention to the popularity of their characters, giving life to hats, gadgets, t-shirts and everything that can be considered a successful merchandise. But this, of course, is about our reality, but what could Deadpool ever come up with?

Feeling envious of other more famous superheroes, the good Wade, in fact, has decided to give life to his own merchandise…. directly in the Marvel Universe! Deadpool, shamelessly, often presents itself as the most popular of heroes, in an unparalleled self-promotion campaign, to the point that you often see in the background of Marvel comics characters sporting T-shirts of the Mercenary Chattering or showing their admiration for Deadpool. showing off his gadgets

Deadpool's Strange Fears

With everything he's been through and his easygoing attitude, you'd think Deadpool is immune to any fear. Instead, Wade Wilson has extremely curious fears. And it couldn't be otherwise, considering the character!

During a torture by Domino, in fact, Deadpool tries to escape from the woman using his secret weapon (but not too much): do not stop talking. In this endless stream of words, the mercenary reveals that the cows frighten him to death, confessing his bovinophobia. When Domino, who has become the victim of Deadpool's tireless chatter, confesses that she is scared of chickens, Wade claims to have the same fear.

Deadpool and Spider-Man have a daughter

In the world Marvel's weird Spider-Man and Deadpool duo is a blast. While Deadpool seems intent on winning the heart of Wall Climbing, good Parker escapes this hilarious courtship, giving life to incredible curtains. Yet, surprisingly, the two have a daughter!

Itsy Bitsy is the result of a crazy experiment of Patient Zero, a villain who, intent on defeating the two heroes, subjected a volunteer to an experiment in which she was injected with the genes of Spidey and Deadpool. The result is a spider-like, six-armed woman with the biting humor of Wade Wilson, who after killing her creator decided she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her fathers and fight crime. His homicidal tendencies, however, have prompted Spider-Man and Deadpool to disintegrate this disturbing progeny.

He was the first Venom symbiote

Venom has always been one of Spider's historical enemies -Man. Originally a Parker costume after the events on Battleword, the symbiote later became one of Wallramp's nemeses, giving rise to a rivalry that lasted for years.

If the official version of Marvel's continuity wants it Parker was the first symbiote of the alien parasite, in Deadpool's Secret Secret War s story it seems that Wade Wilson was the first to find the symbiote and use it as a costume.

After trying some combinations for a new suit, Deadpool felt that the symbiote was trying to probe his mind, which led him to reject the symbiosis, with the doubt whether this brief contact with his psyche 'particular' could have left consequences on the symbiote.

Exiting the laboratory, Deadpoll encounters Spidey and shows him where to find an incredible machinery to create costumes.

This story, as often happens with adventures of Deadpool, has not been canonized, and therefore is not part of the official history of Venom, but it would be curious to discover that the madness of one of Spider-Man's historical nemeses is the result of yet another stunt by Deadpool.

Deadpool and Street Fighter

During one of his mental crises, Deadpool is convinced by an unusual therapist, Dr. Bong, that the only way to recover from his hallucinatory delusions is a violent and lasting confrontation, through which to download all his aggress itivity. Considering his regenerating factor, Deadpool decides that his opponent can only be Wolverine, at that moment in Japan together with Kitty Pryde.

Arriving in the Land of the Rising Sun, Deadpool discovers that Wolverine does not intend to help him. To provoke him, Deadpool asks Kitty if she has ever played Street Fighter, and without waiting for an answer he hits the girl with an uppercut shouting 'Shoryuken'. Obviously, Logan loses his temper, treats Wade well and he comes to his senses.

The scene, however, has also been read by the creators of the video game Marvel cs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, where Marvel heroes and Capcom clash in last-ditch fights. Deadpool is also on the roster of the House of Ideas, who can use the Shoryuken as a move in homage to the scene with Kitty.

Deadpool has never eaten a cimichanga

Everyone knows the exclamation Deadpool's favorite. No, it's not boobies (although Wade doesn't mind), but Chimichanga. Given the frequency with which the killer with a ready joke mentions the Mexican dish, one would think that he is crazy about it, but in reality he does not appreciate this dish at all. For example, in Cable and Deadpool # 13 he repeats 'chimichanga' for a long time and finally orders… enchiladas.

Why then this typical exclamation? Blame Saturday Night Live, at least according to Fabian Nicieza, co creator of the character. The origin of the exclamation would be the consequence of a play between Nicieza and Mark Gruenwald, who imitated a sketch of the Saturady Night Live seen in the 90s where the actors said Spanish words at random just to laugh at each other.

Deadpool has a Guinness World Record

Is it any wonder that a Deadpool comic has set a Guinness World Record? Considering the character, all in all it's also acceptable. And just to make the event even more incredible, it took place during the celebration of her wedding.

The cover of Deadpool Vol. 2 # 27, in fact, created by Scott Koblish and Val Staples, portrays the highlight of Deadpool's wedding, portraying 332 characters. According to the judges of the Guinness World Record, as many as 224 of these are easily recognizable, considering them sufficient to give this table all the vestments to be considered a Guinness World Record.

Acknowledgment disputed by some experts in comics, who see instead as deserving of the Gi.I. Joe America's Elite, which in one issue would have showcased 236 characters, without using animals as did the Deadpool cover authors

Deadpool had the face of Tom Cruise

Between the many virtues of Deadpool, certainly we can not mention the beauty. The experiments of the K Department and his illness have deeply affected Wade's appearance, which is why we always see him wrapped in his unmistakable red and black jumpsuit.

Eppuire, for a short time Deadpool had the features of a true Hollywood star, none other than Thom Cruz. The assonance does not deceive, to avoid legal problems Marvel preferred to mask the name of Tom Cruise, but it was the face of the interpreter of Mission: Impossible what Deadpool showed after Loki, the Asgardian god, threw him a very unusual curse. And to think that years later Cruise would be used again by the House of Ideas for Extremis' Iron Man.

Finally beautiful, Wade will have been happy. Not at all, so much so that convinced that Thom Cruz's beauty ruined his figure, he tried more to deface himself, until he was able to break the curse and get his much-loved disfigured face back.
