Black Adam - Aldis Hodge will play Hawkman

Black Adam - Aldis Hodge will play Hawkman
An important confirmation arrived yesterday night regarding the casting of Black Adam, the film starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson which, after a thousand ups and downs caused by the health emergency caused by the Coronavirus epidemic, seems to have entered the full pre-production waiting to start filming.

Johnson, through his official instagram account, has indeed confirmed and welcomed Aldis Hodge (Leverage, Hidden Figures, Straight Outta Compton, Underground) who will play Hawkman in the film. One of the most colorful, and complicated, characters in DC mythology was created by Gardner Fox and Dennis Neville debuting in 1941 in Flash Comics # 1.

Hawkman is the alter-ego of the archaeologist Carter Hall who, during an expedition to Egypt, discovers that he is the reincarnation of Prince Khufu blocked, due to a curse, in a cycle of deaths and resurrections together with his companion Chay-ara. Subsequently the character was radically changed making him an alien from the planet Thanagar.

Black Adam, the news about the film

It was Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson who introduced Black Adam a few weeks ago at the DC FanDome. The film, closely linked to Shazam !, will tell the origins of Black Adam, who remained a prisoner for over 5,000 years in Kahndaq. One of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe, unlike modern heroes who have to be sober, will awaken precisely to unleash his fury. The project, confirmed the actor, was put in place more than 10 years ago.

In addition to Dwayne Johnson as the anti-hero Black Adam, young Noah Centineo will be Atom Smasher, a hero capable of controlling his molecular structure by increasing size, strength and endurance. This version of the character should be based on the one created by David S. Goyer and James Dale Robinson who first appeared in 1999's JSA Secret Files 1.

Noah Centineo, also speaking to the panel, presented his character as someone who has a lot to feel due to his legacy and will undergo a transformation due to his disastrous first mission. His path to becoming a hero will be unusual.

Taking advantage of Centineo's presence, Johnson confirmed that 3 other members of the Justice Society of America will be introduced in the film: Hawkman, Doctor Fate and Cyclone.

We just have to wait for the casting of Doctor Fate and Cyclone!

Black Adam is expected in theaters on December 22, 2021.

Black Adam will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise) from a screenplay by Adam Sztykiel. Filming should have started last spring but as easily understood the Coronavirus epidemic has blocked all the works that have therefore been postponed to the beginning of 2021.
