Mediaworkstations a-X1P and a-X2P, portable workstations with AMD EPYC CPU
If you thought Mediaworkstations a-Xp was already a portable powerhouse with its support for AMD Threadripper processors, workstations with EPYC will truly leave you breathless. The manufacturer, in fact, offers the a-X1P and a-X2P solutions that offer a maximum of two AMD EPYC (codenamed Rome) processors.
With dimensions equal to 25.65 x 58.7 x 22 , 9 cm, the a-X2P makes the a-XP look like just a poor toy. The weight of the system largely depends on the type of hardware mounted inside it but, overall, it can vary from 18.14 to 22.68 kg. The a-X2P follows the same design philosophy as the a-Xp, offering a briefcase style that certainly increases its portability, but the a-X2P has another ace up its sleeve: it can accommodate up to six displays (FullHD or 4K) from 24 ”, making it the dream of every mulitasker. Logically, the a-X2P uses a dual socket SP3 motherboard, but again, the motherboard name has not been revealed.
Processor options include the full range of the EPYC series. 7002, starting with the octa-core EPYC 7252 chip up to the flagship model EPYC 7742 with 64 cores. Although the motherboard can handle up to 4TB of memory, Mediaworkstations “only” offers up to 2TB of DDR4-2666 ECC LRDIMM memory. The a-X2P can be equipped with Nvidia graphics cards (up to a maximum of two) from the GeForce RTX 2000 family to Titan, Quadro or Tesla.
Mediaworkstations provides a large variety of storage devices to choose from: from high-speed M.2 NVMe drives, 2.5 ”SSDs, traditional 3.5” hard drives to Intel Optane drives. If you want more specific hardware, the a-X2P can be equipped with LSI SAS or MegaRAID controller cards and ultra-fast Mellanox network cards.
of course, to bring home the device, you will need to shell out a lot of money. The basic model with two EPYC 7742, 64GB memory, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 250 GB, GeForce RTX 2060 Super and a single HD display 24-inch will cost you well 9.897$ , while a system with such a configuration, the thrust will easily exceed$100,000.
