DC and Audible have released the very first trailer of The Sandman, audio book version, which will be available starting from July 15th, obviously for the moment only in English.

Here it is:

The cast the audio book will be led by James McAvoy who will lend the voice to Morfeo, the Lord of Dreams protagonist of the series, and will be joined by Kat Dennings as Death, Michael Sheen as Lucifer, Taron Egerton as John Constantine, Samantha Morton as Urania Blackwell, Riz Ahmed as Corinthian, Andy Serkis as Matthew The Crow, Bebe Neuwirth as Siamese Cat and obviously Neil Gaiman will be the narrating voice.

The Sandman is a 'work released in 75 numbers between 1989 and 1996 under the Vertigo label of DC. The Audible version will adapt the first three volumes of the series namely Preludi & Notturni, Doll House and The Dreamlands which contain some of the most famous stories in the series such as "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "24 Hours".

An Italian edition is also planned, like many of the Audible Originals, but obviously at the moment neither the details nor the possible cast of voices are known.

Here is the synopsis of the first volume if you don't know The Sandman:

In "Preludes and Nocturnes", the first cycle of stories by Sandman, an occultist tries to capture Death to obtain eternal life, but by mistake he evokes his younger brother, Dream. After 70 years of cruel imprisonment and a daring escape, the King of Dreams, also known as Morpheus, begins a journey to recover some magical objects related to his mystical powers. During this incredible adventure Morpheus will meet Lucifer, John Constantine and a decidedly dangerous madman. At the end of the volume, you will find "The flapping of its wings", with the debut of Death, a very sweet girl whom, sooner or later, we will all have to know.
