is about to greet us. We speak of trends relating to all those aspects that characterized this gaming era, and which in our opinion are indicative of certain changes (in some cases still ongoing) within the entire electronic entertainment industry and in tastes and in the habits of gamers.
Reboot, remake, but few new IP
One of the most evident phenomena of this generation of consoles was surely the reproposing of old titles both in simply remastered form, both of real remakes that in some cases have even reset a series. Some of these operations were designed only to minimize risks and get easy money. Others, however, have proved to be "necessary" to restore life to a series bogged down on itself, or to a franchise in obvious creative difficulty. And it is undeniable that some remakes, see Tomb Raider or Resident Evil 2, just to name a couple, have hit the mark in this sense.
