Samsung: do you want a top of the range? Give up on the charger
For now we are talking about top of the range, with manufacturers who are forced to save if they want to include the top of technology in some models . Now we will explain.
In recent days we have reported that Apple was determined to make this idea concrete by removing the charger and, probably, the headphones from all the iPhone 12 packaging. Different for the data cable that instead will always be present inside.
Returning to Samsung, the indiscretion comes from Sammobile and, through internal sources, indicates how the company has already identified what to cut to contain the list prices of the new Galaxy smartphones. The reasoning of the South Korean company is that this type of accessories are almost universal and it is rare, very rare, that a user does not have at least one functioning one. With this saving, it will be possible to guarantee top-of-the-range products also in 2021, given that the costs of the SoC Snapdragon 875 have significantly increased and raising the price lists again would be deleterious.
In doing so, however, we also go good for the planet. For example, Apple has been supplying its headquarters in Cupertino with renewable energy since 2018. This move would therefore lead to a lower environmental impact, also combined with savings, is clear.
Although the objectives may be different, in this way Apple and Samsung would save on costs and, at the same time, would produce less plastic by removing a charger from each package. What about the other manufacturers? Should we expect a chain effect?
