Maserati: the Ghibli is the first hybrid
The first electrified Maserati is the Ghibli. The sedan of the trident of Modena in the model year 2021 version gains a 48-volt mild hybrid system integrated in the 2.0-liter four-cylinder 330 hp petrol. Thus the 3.0-liter V6 Turbo Diesel leaves the scene. The Ghibli hybrid will be available by the end of 2020. The official list has not yet been announced.
This is an unprecedented in the Maserati range, which with this new project wants to boost the electrical program, which will lead in the future to the creation of zero-emission cars. In order to maintain the driving pleasure unaltered, it was decided to give up the plug-in that would have added weight by compromising sporty driving.
The 48 Volt system is powered by a 0.5 kWh battery housed in the rear area of the body. From a performance point of view, Maserati technicians seem to agree in comparing the Ghibli Hybrid to the 350 hp V8 petrol version: thanks to the specific setting of the control unit and useful measures not to alter the typical sportiness of the brand.
The Ghibli Hybrid has an unchanged appearance compared to traditional versions, if not for some detail. The brake calipers, the details on the mudguard and the rear upright are in anodized blue color; the grille has tuning fork elements and the shape of the rear lights has been redesigned, inspired by the Maserati Alfieri.
An interesting novelty involves the system of ict: the more connected, updatable over the air, and the protocols that Apple Car Play and Android auto, you can activate the wireless. The screens are 8" and 10" , the power of the software of the calculation is improved and supports up to two phones connected simultaneously via Bluetooth.
