Intel Tiger Lake will be 49% faster than Ice Lake, at least according to a benchmark
As you already know, Intel is also working on the new series of processors of the Tiger Lake line and recently a specimen of Core i7-1165G7 has appeared in a SiSoftware benchmark. The processor is expected to use the Intel Willow Cove microarchitecture and the Xe Gen12 graphics subsystem.
As reported, the CPU, equipped with four cores and eight threads, has a base clock of 2.8GHz capable of increasing up to 4.7 GHz. It has been known for a long time that Tiger Lake will introduce an L3 cache 50% higher per core than Ice Lake and this has been verified by the data present in the SiSoftware benchmark, as identified by @TUM_APISAK: the Core i7-1165G7 has in fact 12MB cache L3 compared to the 8MB of the existing Core i7-1065G7 Ice Lake processor.
From a graphic point of view, Xe Gen12 should offer 50% more execution units (UE) than Gen11. In a quick summary, Gen11 is limited to 64 UE, which means that Gen12 will host up to 96 UE or 768 shading units, even if the exact configuration used in the Core i7-1165G7 is not known. The Core i7-1065G7 processor achieved a score of 378.63 Mpix / s in the multimedia processor test. With a score of 564.87 Mpix / s, the Core i7-1165G7 is up to 49.2% faster than the Ice Lake chip.
Tiger Lake will introduce substantial changes, such as the transition to the 10nm + production node, support for Thunderbolt 4, adoption of Willow Cove microarchitecture, Xe Gen12 graphics and more. The first rumors have even suggested support for the PCIe 4.0 interface.
Remember that Intel will be a virtual event for the press on 2 September . The chipmaker has not yet published the program, but we expect important announcements on Tiger Lake and, perhaps, Xe Graphics DG1, the dedicated GPU company of Santa Clara. Recently, the database SiSoftware has allowed us also to get an idea about the performance achievable by future Intel CPUS, Rocket Lake, which should offer more performance than the current Comet Lake, in the trade.
Are you thinking to make a build based on the latest Intel CPU and look for a motherboard with a balanced price? We recommend that you take a look at ASUS First Z490-P, that you can buy on Amazon at discount interesting .
