AMD, new support from China solves an annoying AM4 socket problem

As published on the Chiphell forums by kthlon, a new mounting mechanism for AM4 socket-based processors, including AMD's famous Ryzen series, has appeared on the market and allows to avoid the long-standing problem that causes the processor to remain "stuck" to the heatsink being removed.

Credit: ChipHell While the AM4 socket is perhaps the longest running ever in the history of x86 processors, supporting countless CPUs, it has an annoying tendency: when removing the heatsink, the chip it can get stuck on the cooling plate due to a suction-like effect created by the thermal interface material (TIM). This involves extracting the processor from the PGA socket (pin grid array) even if the locking lever remains firmly locked in the "closed" position.

Usually, the removal of a processor is not a frequent task for the common user, and then it is a problem that affects only a small slice of users. Also, it is pretty easy to remedy the situation by turning the sink while you remove it or, in any case, lift it up when the processor is still warm.
