3D printed chicken nuggets in KFC restaurants
Handshake announced between KFC and the Russian company 3D Bioprinting Solutions based in Moscow to bring dishes full of chicken nuggets to customers' tables made with a technique very similar to that of three-dimensional printing. The raw material used will be created in the laboratory with the aim of creating a production chain with limited impact on the environment.

KFC: 3D printers and chicken nugget

The first samples to be taste will be ready by autumn. It is good to specify that it will not be a 100% cruelty free food: nothing intended for vegetarians or vegans since the meat will be of an animal nature, therefore nothing to do with what is proposed by Impossible Foods, Beyond Meat and other companies that base their products on plant-based substitutes.

The announced innovation relates to the method used to obtain it, starting from cells taken from chickens and combined with other plants, suitably treated to reach the flavor and the typical consistency of the dish. These are the words of Raisa, General Manager of KFC Russia.

At KFC we carefully monitor all the latest trends and innovations, doing our best to keep up with the times by introducing advanced technologies in our restaurant network. Crafted meat products represent the next step in the creation of our restaurant concept of the future.

As already mentioned, the ultimate goal is to reduce the impact on the environment in terms of resources consumed by intensive breeding. The technology related to 3D printers can contribute towards this in the last phase of the project, the one in which the food to be destined to customers is shaped. Polyakova continues.

experiments performed with the 3D technology of bioprinting to make food based on chicken can also help to tackle some of the most serious global problems. We are honored to contribute to the development, we are working to make it available to thousands of people in Russia and, if possible, throughout the world.
