Xbox Series X will enhance Project xCloud in 2021, with new hardware on the servers

Xbox Series X will form the technological base of Project xCloud in 2021, with a change of hardware expected within the servers of the Microsoft service which will be based, from next year, on the next gen console.

Based on As reported by The Verge, Microsoft would therefore intend to transport the entire Project xCloud service to the next gen, replacing the current server blades, which are now based on the hardware of the Xbox One S, with the components of the Xbox Series X. This obviously, it should lead to a significant evolution in the performance of the service, even if the quality of the internet connection will still remain fundamental.

Considering the good performances obtained so far also with the current hardware available (always keeping considering that we have an optimal connection as a base), we can expect further steps forward with the transition to new hardware, although obviously there is always latency to consider and the performance differences that the cloud solution determines compared to the direct use of a console.

The specifications, however, at least as regards the quantity of TeraFlops of the Xbox Series X, would exceed those currently declared by Google Stadia, although even this reasoning is not entirely indicative of the actual performance of Project xCloud.

In any case, the evolution of Microsoft's cloud gaming continues, which could subsequently be integrated into the Xbox Game Pass subscription, although more official information is expected on this.
