The Last of Us Part 2, Druckmann talks about the leaks: 'it was disgusting'
During a recent chat with Eurogamer.net colleagues, chased by the interviewer, Neil Druckmann returned to the topic explaining how the boys of Naughty Dog managed the inevitable disappointment: "It was disgusting. something for a long time, and seeing it come out that way was disappointing, both for me and the team members. Soon, however, we got together to discuss it. First, some things from The Last of Us also leaked, while with Uncharted 4 a truck full of copies of the game was stolen, so some people revealed the ending in advance. But basically all this did not take anything away from the experience, because nothing can compete with the possibility of playing them. Nothing can compete with impersonating Ellie and experiencing those moments on your own skin, not only in the cutscenes, but in the gameplay, in the conversations, with the music and all the emotions that make you feel. And the story was built so as not to focus on twists and sudden turns. It's a slow pace that makes you feel the tension in every choice made by the characters ".
According to Naughty Dog, therefore, the knowledge of some implications of the plot will not spoil the game experience, since only by impersonating it is possible empathize with Ellie. "So yes, it was disgusting. But we know that when people get their hands on it, they will feel emotions regardless of what they know, and that's what made us confident. Ok, it will be unpleasant for some time, the game is about to come out, but I am convinced that you will get what we want you to get. "
The Last of Us Part 2 will be released exclusively on PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro the next 19 June.
