Star Wars: Squadrons will have no microtransactions
Announced Monday Last with an official release date set for October 2, 2020, the game returned to show itself on Friday with a gameplay video and other information published by Electronic Arts, but further details were added by the Motive team in an interview published by Game Informer.
The suspicion about the possible presence of microtransactions had emerged for the basically multiplayer structure of Star Wars: Squadrons (which still has the single player mode) and the fact that it is proposed to the public at the reduced price of 39, 99 euros, which made us think of possible subsequent additions with an internal monetization.
Apparently this is not the case: "Pay 40 dollars and you will have the whole game, thank you ie, that's all, "said Ian Frazier, creative director of Motive at work on the game, very clearly. "This is not a game that we have built with a live service style strategy," he explained, "it is built to be a complete game and a great experience on its own."
This however does not mean that it does not new things may be added later, perhaps as DLC: "We don't say we won't add anything, I think we could do it, but it is not part of a live service-style strategy anyway".
To make things even clearer, the screenwriter, Mitch Dyer, remarked on the issue on Twitter by simply reporting "Zero microtransactions" in his game tweet. In the meantime, you can get more information by reading the gameplay preview of Star Wars: Squadrons.
