Skate 4 is reality: because the EA simulator is so long awaited

The streaming conference of Electronic Arts was really cool, without chills or big announcements. Fortunately, before closing the line, there was time for a small big bomb: the return of Skate.

For the uninitiated, Skate is a game dedicated naturally to Skateboarding with a very particular approach : is practically the exact opposite of the classic Tony Hawk Pro Skater. Here the camera does not capture the character, nor does it take care to show us who knows how much scenery, but feet and boards so that the control by the user is total. The trick and displacement system uses the same simulation approach that literally freaked out all the fans.

Extreme sports, extreme decline The third Skate, despite its undeniable quality, did not go but so well at the box office. In the spring of 2010, when the game arrived in the shops, extreme sports were in fact entering a period of inexorable tiredness. Moreover, in the previous ten years this subgenre of sportsmen proliferated in an absolutely insane way, with games dedicated to BMX, Snowboarding and all those activities that include multiple fractures in the daily menu. For the same reason, Tony Hawk's virtual table also ended up in the Activsion garage. It must also be said that with Skate 3, the genre came to embrace a little everything that could be done at the time both from the point of view of the gameplay and from the technical one, touching a climax that crashed it on the ground instead of make him break new records.

SOS YouTube things, at least for Skate , changed radically a few years after its release, and thanks to the controversial youtuber PewDiePie, who took him to live with a successful stunning, so much to revive a community, now dead, and bringing the game even in the standings. From then on, the requests for a new game in the series have multiplied, and today, we can finally see the result. The Black Box Studios responsible for the original trilogy have long been dismantled, but the key figures in the project are returned diligently to the place. Will that be enough for a sequel at the height? I strongly hope for a new Skate, full streaming generation, could really make the sparks, and this time immediately.
