Lakefield: Intel Hybrid CPUs for tomorrow's PCs

The announcement of the new Intel Core processors with Hybrid technology developed by the Santa Clara chipmaker to respond to the renewed needs of the PC market, in particular those related to form factors such as dual screens and folding, arrives. Baptized with the codename Lakefield, they are based on Foveros 3D packaging technology.

Intel's Lakefield CPUs with hybrid architecture The manufacturer defines them “the smallest processors to provide Intel's performance Core and Full Window Compatibility ”with reference to the management of applications dedicated to productivity and content creation. They are up to 57% smaller than most traditional drives and guarantee full support for all Windows 10 software. These are the words of Chris Walker, Corporate Vice President and General Manager for the Mobile Client Platforms division.

Intel Core processors with Intel Hybrid technology well represent how Intel intends to promote the evolution of the PC industry by designing processors based on user experience, with an exclusive combination of architectures and IP. Thanks to an ever closer collaboration with our design partners, these processors unlock the potential of the new device categories.

They are also the first Intel Core processors with Package-on memory. -Integrated package to reduce the footprint, the first with minimum SoC standby consumption of 2.5 mW and the first with two internal channels for managing different displays. There is a Sunny Cove core with high performance and another four Tremont with low energy absorption. Full support for WiFi 6 and LTE connectivity. Here are the CPUs:

Intel Core i5-L16G7 : Intel GPU UHD Graphics (64 Execution Unit), 5 cores and 5 threads, cache 4 MB, TDP 7 W, frequency of 1.40 GHz (Turbo single core 3,00 GHz, all core 1.80 GHz), memory LPDDR4X-4267; Intel Core i5-L13G4 : Intel GPU UHD Graphics (48 Execution Units), 5 cores and 5 threads, cache 4 MB, TDP 7 W, frequency of 0.80 GHz (Turbo single core 2,80 GHz, all core, 1,30 GHz), memory LPDDR4X-4267.

with regard To availability, will be present in the Microsoft Surface Neo dual-screen introduced last year, on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold with folding screen announced at CES 2020 and on the Samsung Galaxy Book S (as anticipated by the rumor ) that will be on sale in some markets already this month.
