This new form of payment is made possible by the agreement between the colossus Coca-Cola Amatil, one of the main bottlers and distributors of the beverage in the Asia-Pacific region, and the company Centrapay, a New Zealand digital payments platform that uses blockchain technology to its services.

The agreement will allow customers to pay for the drinks chosen at one of the over 2,000 Coca-Cola brand distributors in Australia and New Zealand directly through their digital wallet on their smartphone. In particular, with the Sylo Smart Wallet app, users will be able to choose from the over 100 cryptocurrencies supported by the electronic wallet, including bitcoins, and managed with the Centrapay platform to pay for products by scanning the associated QR Code.

And the actors on the field in this collaboration are certainly prominent. For its part, Centrapay thinks big. In the coming years, it aims at the North American market to be able to expand its cryptocurrency payment solutions to other companies too, says the founder of the startup born in 2017, Jerome Faury. As far as Coca-Cola Amatil is concerned, the company, with its more than 12 thousand employees, is today among the top five bottlers of the American soft drinks giant and can reach over 270 million consumers.
