Corona-Warn-App: Germany's Immuni debuts
Contact tracing: in Germany there is Corona-Warn-App The software is based on the tools made available by Google and Apple, therefore adopting a decentralized approach to information management, just like Immuni does in Italy. Leverages Bluetooth Low Energy technology to identify if a person has entered the range of a subject potentially capable of transmitting the disease for a period of at least 15 minutes, showing a warning and inviting them to take the precautions of the case, starting from isolation.
The same team that took care of the creation (Deutsche Telekom and SAP) admits that the effectiveness of the app is equal to 80%, while in 20% of cases the detection does not take place correctly, especially if individuals are more than two meters away.
The German government has disclosed details of the economic effort put in place to Corona-Warn-App: the development phase cost around 20 million euros, while to maintain the operating platform, 2.5 to 3.5 million euros will be needed each month.
In the past few days we have dedicated an article to all applications for contact tracing in Europe , both those already realized and those still in the shipyard, putting the accent on the fact that the non-adoption of a joint protocol constitutes an obstacle to interoperability . In some cases, as happened with the Norwegian Smittestopp , the process was even interrupted and dropped because of the implications on the privacy of the approach adopted, have been considered disproportionate in relation to the benefits to the community.
