Corona-Warn-App: German Immuni starts strong
Corona-Warn-App: 6.5M downloads in a day The approach the management of information is decentralized, so as to ensure adequate protection of privacy, unlike what France and the United Kingdom do, for example. In recent days we have dedicated an article to all the solutions adopted at European level, so as to emphasize how fragmented the context is at the moment, making it almost impossible to hypothesize interoperability at continental level between the different platforms in the short term.
The operation of Corona-Warn-App is based on the Bluetooth protocol, warning the user of a potential exposure to the disease if he has been for at least 15 minutes less than two meters away from a person to whom he is COVID-19 positivity was diagnosed. This is the brief comment by Christian Klein, SAP CEO.
This is a great success. It is scalable, it is user friendly and it helps society.
The tests here conducted showed that similar software are able to correctly identify a situation of this type in about 80% of the cases. The effectiveness of the technology is also directly proportional to its distribution: the more people use it the more likely it is that it is identified as a contact “at risk” and, therefore, to recommend the adoption of precautionary measures such as insulation. In any case, the installation of the app is entirely voluntary.
For comparison, the diffusion of Immune after 24 hours from the publication on the store of Android and iOS has been much more contained, equal to 500,000 downloads . After ten days, has reached 2.2 million . It should however be noted that the Italian application was initially made operational only in four regions in an experimental form before its radius of action is expanded to the whole national territory at the beginning of this week.
